Dear SEP Families,
The students in Session 3 were quick to grasp the overarching themes of the materials. While they were a gifted class when it come to complex problem solving, they often learned best through in-class discussions. Due to the enthusiasm and drive of this group of students, we got to extra material I had not initially planned to cover.
This class grasped the concepts long before they fully realized how to express the ideas they were forming. The majority of students in the class quickly followed more tangible arguments. Not surprisingly, the most challenging ideas were those that defied expectation and went against the class’s intuition. The greatest challenge occurred when solving problems with no clear solution or strategy. My hope is that the material we covered both pushed their problem-solving skills to new levels while also showing them interesting real world applications for these ideas.
